Cooking with chocolate

Thursday 7th February
Ysgol Llanwenog School

It's amazing what effect the word chocolate can have on members of Llanwenog WI.  By 7.30pm, the start of the meeting, it was standing room only and all the tables were in use.  The reason for the enthusiasm was that Jo Davies was demonstrating "Cooking with Chocolate".

Jo used very little equipment, a saucepan and pudding bowl, miniature cake cases and an artist's paint brush. The paintbrush was used to paint the inside of the cake cases with melted dark chocolate.

After leaving them to set, they were filled with delicious things like apricots in brandy, ginger or sour cherries soaked in some other liqueur.  They were then covered with more melted chocolate, Mmmmm. Jo made it all seem so simple.

Jo with Hammer
We were assured by Jo, that the hammer was for smashing glacier mints to make delicious chocolate mints,
and not for keeping us under control!

Jo also made some lovely truffles, and, needless to say, there was not a crumb left by the end of the evening.

For those who had not over indulged too much, there was the usual spread of good food and lots of fun and laughter.
