Cenarth Coracle Museum and Caws Cenarth Cheese
24th Febrary 2012
Meet Drefach Car Park
9.45am
Today we took a trip to Cenarth to see the Coracle Museum and the Caws Cenarth Cheese Factory. The weather was very kind, and the falls looked spectacular. The Coracle Museum was the first visit and it was certainly enlightening. The antique shop was browsed first, quite fascinating and very reasonable prices too. Martin Fowler gave a hands on talk about the coracles , showing that they are not at all confined to just Wales and Scotland, they have been used all over the world in places such as Tibet and North America. An ineresting fact is that they are all constructed almost identically and have been for thousands of years.
After a great meal at the White Hart, the next venue was the Cenarth Cheese Factory. This is sited on a farm a few miles away and is obviously an organic farm, producing a number of world class cheeses, these were tasted and many were purchased by the members.
The day was concluded by descending on the White Hart again for cups of tea, and some members indulged themselves with sticky toffee pudding and the like.
As usual a great time was had by all.
