Erica Davies: her journey to Grannell Garden Centre

1st Mar 2012
Drefach Village Hall
7.30pm

Erika Davies from the Granell Nursery gave us a facinating talk at our March meeting.

She kept members entertained for almost an hour, about the amusing things that happened whilst they were having to get the place into shape:

There was a tremendous amount of work involved in getting things straight, but it was all worth while. Erika is also a force to be reckoned with at local agricultural shows having gained numerous firsts and seconds in shows, far too many to mention.

She gave many tips, one of which was coffee grounds are good fo preventing slugs, and also she recommended plants suitable for growing in this area, which was most helpful.

Afterwards members were able to buy some of the beautiful plants she had brought, and such good value.

Sian Davies, the ex headmistress of Llanwenog School, also spoke to the members about the possible closure of the school.

Llanwenog WI have long been associated with this wonderful school, so it was suggested that each member should write a letter about  how they felt about the closure.  It was agreed that individual letters would have more impact than just one from the WI.

As usual, the evening was great fun and finished off with good food.
