Welcome

Welcome to Aberaeron WI!

Our institute was established in 1925 therefore we are excited to be celebrating our Centenary this year. The early minute books make interesting reading and they are stored in the Archives in the Town Library in Aberystwyth, Ceredigion.
We meet at the British Legion Hall in Aberaeron on the first Monday of the month at 2pm. Our AGM is in November.
Currently, we have 26 active members who come to meetings to learn, participate and share ideas and to make valued friendships.
Although fashions change we still maintain the values of the WI. Supporting each other and friendship is very important to us, as can be seen and heard at our monthly meetings where there is much chatter and laughter, as well as tea and biscuits! We have a varied annual programme of speakers, covering a wide range of topics which may be educational, practical activities or things just for fun. Each month, we also hold a small competition, often linked to the topic, with an annual prize of a cup for the winner.
As well as this we also have a popular Lunch Club and a Book Club both meeting on the 3rd Wednesday of the month.
Three times a year we have special celebrations: St David’s Day in March, Picnic in the Park in August and of course Christmas lunch, as well as a stall at the very popular annual Town Carnival raising funds for local charities.
Our WI also takes part in County events like Group Meetings; WI walks; Resolution Meetings and the Spring and Autumn Rallies as well as the odd day out.
We extend a warm welcome to visitors from other areas and like to meet members from all parts of the country and beyond. We enjoy hearing about how other institutes function as we are all different.
Aberaeron is a popular seaside town and we would be very pleased to welcome you.
