Penllwyn W I was formed in 1919 its main concern has always been the community. These ideals still endure with a small group of members visiting the local primary school to listen to the children reading. In 2014 Penllwyn was amalgamated with Mynach & District W I and we welcome several of their members to our institute. We now cover a large area one previously served by Ponterwyd founded in 1938 but lapsed and Goginan founded in 1957 but lapsed in 1971. Mynach & District was founded in 1976.
We have a membership of 20 full members and 5 dual members. At the Ceredigion Annual Council meeting in November 2023 Penllwyn WI was awarded the Marie Vaughan Jones Plaque for the greatest percentage increase in membership in Ceredigion. A particular honour for Penllwyn as Marie Vaughan Jones was a valued member of Penllwyn
